The battle for the 2nd spot at 2B in the ASG is a tight one between Kendrick and Pedroia.

Outside of BBs and errors committed, Kendrick is comperable to or better than Pedroia so far in 2013. Runs scored should be discounted because Pedroia hits in front of much better hitters so far in 2013.

And there is another issue: Altuve may be the Astros only selection. And of course he is a 2B.

He is still an undisciplined hitter with little understanding of the strike zone.  He continues to swing at breaking balls a foot off the plate when down in the count.  The difference is hit is fouling off these pitches (even got a hit I believe in the Cubs series); whereas in all other seasons he would swing and miss.

His poor hitting approach remains, and it would behoove Dipoto to trade Howie while his value is at its peak   The average and OBP are quite telling.  The dude still does walk much.
