Easy.  Attach a prospect, or even two, to J. Up's deal to move him off of the roster.  Now, I have enough.

To bring more talent in, ownership will have to get creative.  Ownership may also have to go over the luxury tax threshold.  The Dodgers are over, and they don't blink when it comes to adding talent.  The Angels shouldn't either.

It might have to do with revenue.  The Dodgers don’t blink because their TV contract pays them $300 million a year, which is twice as much as the Angels.  Additionally, since they are already successful they have a ton of other revenue coming in from attendance and such.

And a worse farm system, which you will really need when you have to pay 2-3 more guys $20-30 million a year.

You're right, but to be fair Detmers, Adell, Marsh and C-Rod have all technically "graduated" (though Marsh and Detmers might still be prospects. Not sure). 4 top prospects come up to the big leagues and yeah, the farm is going to take a huge hit.

That is what St. Louis fans said about Fowler last off season. Also Blue Jays fans when they had Vernon Wells big contract.

The Angels paid about $1 million of Fowler’s contract.  If we only saved $1 million of Upton’s contract by trading him, then you might as well keep him.  Also Vernon Wells was 11 years ago.  Baseball is very different these days, but you know that.

Everybody in baseball knew (except angels) that was a horrible trade, but u know that

Point was no team would trade for Upton and not true. Somebody might, how about team would pay 5 mill?

Angels would probably still need to send a prospect to make that happen.  Upton has hit .211/.299/.414 since the beginning of 2019.  Yes, he's been injured--but that's part of the problem: who's going to trust him to stay healthy in 2022?

And don’t forget he has to approve the trade.

Adams, just for example, is blocked by Trout, Marsh, and Adell.  Ohtani has the DH spot locked down.  Why wouldn't management go to player A (Upton) and tell him that the team just doesn't have at-bats for him, and it would be in his own best interest to give the Angels a list of clubs that he would accept a trade to?

Better than sitting, and if we include a prospect, our return would be better than a bag of baseballs.

If we traded Upton and Adam’s were getting nothing, except maybe our back up catcher and eating $20 million of Upton’s contract.

Yeah, I don't know why so many people seem to keep thinking that it's easy to get rid of his contract (even if Upton okays a trade).  Two years ago, the Angels had to trade their first round pick to the Giants so they'd take Cozart, and his salary was less than half of Upton's. The Angels return in that trade was a minor league reliever who never even pitched in their organization.

It will not be easy to trade Upton.  I get it.  What I am saying is the situation is similar to what went down with Albert.

There are better OF's on the team, Trout, Marsh, and Adell.  There are better DH's on the team, Ohtani.

If Upton doesn't waive his no-trade, he is going to sit.  We saw how well that worked with Albert.

The better the prospect(s) dealt with Upton, the less the salary the Angels would have to pay.  Just the way baseball works.

If the DH comes to the NL, more clubs may be interested in acquiring Upton, hypothetically.  It will be interesting to see how the offseason plays out.

I’d rather keep Upton and Adams rather than save $5 million and lose both.
