The problem is they haven't drafted well or developed much pitching.  It's looking more promising, but you have to develop your own cheap talent.

If it wasn't for Ohtani's great season this year the stands would have been empty. Right now he has 2 of the biggest stars in the game. They aren't going anywhere. 

This is one instance where Arte’s star power desire pays off.

No worries about a trade taking place, which is great especially seeing what happened with the Marlins in the Cabrera deal.

I heard that they can but they ask most teams not to do anything while the playoffs are going.

There are trades and other transactions allowed but they’re rare. I remember the Angels got Felix Peña during the playoffs. 
 

You can also re-sign your own free agents. The only thing really not allowed is signing free agents from other teams.
