According to ESPN, the Athletics are going to make their intentions known regarding relocation to Las Vegas after the end of the World Series. Considering that ownership is going to make at least one more visit here to look at stadium sites...maybe. They are said to prefer a location near the Strip. One site being mentioned more than most is near the Raiders' practice facility. Another is near Las Vegas Motor Speedway north of town off I-15.

Here’s to them escaping the Mt. Davis Mausoleum.

Vegas is exploding in the sports world.

No major pro sports just 5 years ago, and suddenly working on team #3

All that remains is for an NBA team to join the Golden Knights in T-Mobile Arena.

We are hearing maybe the Minnesota Timberwolves. The purchase agreement with the new owners allows them to move the team.

Five years ago we had no hockey team. Now we have two.

It would be fun to drive out to Vegas to watch the Angels.

Notice how I said "would." This is assuming the Angels become watchable in the near future.

Don't ever drive back on a Sunday, you'll be stuck in the traffic jam from hell. Best to go up on a weekday and return before the weekend.

Looks like Tampa and Montreal will be sharing a team in a few years. Interesting concept. Possibly a forerunner of future sports arrangements? All games for all teams are readily accessible via streaming/broadcasting. So fans can be in sync all season.  So for each city half the season is like an extended road trip. Maybe the formula could also  be tweaked for each city to have a series or two in their 'other home' during their alternate residency to reinforce continuity.

With these cities it makes a lot of sense factoring in climate.

Weird.  Just find a place to play full time.

It's an ESPN rewrite of an SF Chronicle story that said the A's are planning to narrow down their list of potential stadium sites in Las Vegas after the World Series.

And, as for the "bullet train," the Vegas terminal is where one of those sites could be ...

Seems like California is being pretty stupid when it comes to gambling.  How many people drive east to leave California and go to Las Vegas every year?

The fact is once they get east of Barstow, that money is going to end up on Nevada.

Why isn’t California smart enough to establish like a 5 mile zone on this side of the CA/NV border where casinos can be built?  Nevada already has casinos at state line.

Doesn’t it seem pretty obvious that CA should allow CA casinos on this side of the border at state line?

At least SOME of the Vegas-bound money could stay in California.
