Yes he is. The shift doesn't exist in  vacuum.  If players weren't so one dimensional that they can only play a game of over the line teams wouldn't stack one side of the diamond against them. Get better all around players and the shift goes away.

Also, they've found most of the drop in batting average over the last decade on balls in play has been from outfielders playing deeper, not from the shift.

Really? Maybe he's just cheap and Arte likes him.  Yeah, some like him, but it can't be a big group.   

As for the tweet.  Oof.  Its not stupid.  Quite the opposite  Htters not even trying to adjust is stupid.  Not understanding that this game has changed over the years is stupid.   Not looking for ways to get more action on the field is stupid.

Smart people are looking into ways to get more action.  Just as smart people suggested more shifts.

The shift works because players won’t adjust.
