Yes, their decision making is questionable, that can't be argued. But after selling cars for 18 years you are a car salesman not a lot boy. Doesn't matter the sales quotas being met as long as there is still an office to do the paperwork.

The bullpen is short on quality arms and this is not a pennant race. So why pull your starter in the top of the fourth in a one run tie game, one out and a chance to get the double play to end the inning? 

I hope he voluntarily retires at the end of the season because his decision making, from lineup card to rotation and bullpen management has been awful. 

He does it because he needs to be a "part" of the game. He's the Joe West of managers.

I highly recommend not watching the games.  

So the only run the Angels scored was on the second pitch of the game?  

Otherwise it was a perfect display of every deficiency as to why this org needs an enema.  Good stuff.

The only think that surprises me is that Iglesias didn't pitch to justify the team still having him.   I can't wait for them to take the same approach again next year.

The rest of the season may get ugly, given the schedule  and playoff motivation of the opposition. Hanging around .500 till this week could be construed positively. Especially considering Trout and Tendon missing most of the season. 

But with the recent roster juggling and managerial decisions the team looks worse than ever.

If the team does fade and end ten or more below .500 then it will make for an uncomfortable off season. Yet again. Maddon may deserve some credit for keeping a compromised roster till now near 500, despite some really bad game/roster management. But if Trout returns maybe they don't drift into a terrible finish. And Maddon is given the benefit of the doubt. 

At this point why risk Trout for a meaningless month. The team has enough ongoing issues to deal with going into next year. At least keep Trout rested and fresh for 2022.

The pitching right now is terrible.  It's that simple.  They gave up 33 runs in 3 games to a team that was next to last in the AL in runs.  The offense has been sluggish in August, too, but unless they're putting up 7 or 8 runs a game at a minimum right now, the team isn't going to win.

bad pitching doesn't excuse bad offense.

Yes. the pitching is terrible. This should surprise no one. However, the offense is not doing its part. In all three games, the Angels took an early lead, then went into cruise control for the rest of the game. Luckily, the offense scored enough runs early on Tuesday to ensure that the bad pitching wasn't able to cough up the lead.

Yet, they almost did anyway.
