No one is saying "shut him down," as far as I can tell, just give him some days off, both to hopefully give him a chance to rest and hopefully perform better, but also for his long-term health.

Furthermore, if it is the MVP you're worried about, he's pretty much got it locked up. The unusual nature of his season, plus the simple WAR edge, plus the fact that there is no other single stand-out, makes him a no-brainer.
