Tore up pretty bad sounds a lot worse than a moderate strain.

Get right, sit the rest of the season and go into next year with a refreshed mentality. Maybe lose a couple lbs and pick a corner OF spot.

When did he stop doing those workouts? Did he continue to do them up to the present time?

This injury can happen if you make a sudden quick movement that overstretches the muscle. Such movements include jumping or quickly changing direction. People who play sports like tennis or basketball are more likely to suffer such a muscle tear. Exercising too much or not warming up properly can weaken the gastrocnemius muscle.

I think you might be overworking your obsession with Trout's workouts

L.A. Times reports that Trout is not nearly ready to play in a major league game. No rehab assignment is scheduled.

Oh well. Better to shut him down. He should be ready by next Spring.

I can't wait for this season to end but it's been nice to see some of the youngsters play.

I'd put the over/under on Trout playing another major league game this year at 50/50. The closer it gets to the end, the less it makes sense. Of course he probably wants to play, so may come back for the last two weeks just to play with the guys.

Marsh has played exclusively at CF since his call-up...I do wonder if we're going to see Trout in a corner outfield spot whenever he returns. 

Obviously could just be that Marsh is the best option in CF, but the fact that he's seen not a single inning in a corner spot might indicate they aren't worrying about how he looks there.

I’m somewhat confused.

I haven’t seen anywhere where Trout mentioned the strain being a tear, granted Grade 2’s involve some sort of tear.

Is it possible that it’s actually a Grade 3?    Although if so, wouldn’t he be having pain instead of just discomfort?
