Anger subsides over time.  I can't believe a player would hold a grudge two months later.   To be honest if he does its probably a good thing you did lose him.

I think the historical data is really just selection bias, only 1 in 30 teams can sign a guy. If a team is willing to trade a player there is a good chance they don't value them quite as much as another team might. Additionally, trades usually send players from bad teams to good ones, and give the player a chance to see what life is like playing for another organization.

It reminds me of a girl I used to work with years ago, who broke up with her boyfriend because she wanted to hook up with some guy without cheating. When she tried to get back with the boyfriend a few weeks later he wasn't interested anymore. 🤣

Good point.  But that would mean the chance of extending the player was slim and the trade was good idea.

Yup, there is almost no chance we re-sign Iglesias. Not trading him is maybe the single best example of an organizational philosophy that has lead to something like 6 consecutive losing seasons.

Hopefully Iglesias is genuine when he says he is happy hear and hopefully we give a competitive offer before he hits FA.

I’m guessing there was a decent offer.  Related to some earlier posts, Iglesias would be a top three reliever on most teams but he doesn’t seem to do well if it’s not a save situation.  As a set up guy, perhaps but perhaps not..  I bet he’d do fine in the playoffs and that would be factor.

Like I said I think there was a decent offer.

Ok

Ok.

I’m wondering what quotes you’ve seen that make you think they’ll come to a deal. Madden is obviously going to say he wants Iglesias to come back and Iglesias is going to say the same. I’m sure the Angels will make him an offer they feel is competitive.

The, “it feels like family here”, “I am happy I wasn’t traded, I couldn’t sleep at all on Thursday”, “he is the most accommodating closer I have ever worked with”

Those may not be exact quotes, but pretty close to what they said.
