Cleveland Indians new name is "Guardians"

This one is actually sad.

Loved Chief Wahoo, loved "the Tribe", loved what Major League and the Drew Carry show did to popularize this team, loved the Indians of the 90's with Manny, Thome, Baerga, Belle, Vizquel, Alomar....

People that are actually offended by their team name are people that are just looking to be offended.

Next thing you know, they'll cancel the Angels because it offends atheists. I think you can make up a reason to be offended by pretty much any major league team name.

... though if you look at the post just above yours, the statues that inspired the name do have wings like this around their heads.

I see that now, but I don't like the looks of them on the logo.

Agree with this.  Ultimately I really don’t care what they call their team, but it is hard to not notice how meaningless this exercise was.  I laugh at the vision of people hugging and high fiving each other thinking this is some grand accomplishment that did something valuable and meaningful in life.

Now let’s start a rumor that the owners were willing to change the name but were hellbent on keeping the exact same tone of red to continue to hurtfully mock Native Americans, then pop some popcorn and watch all the insatiable indignaholics start a campaign to demand that the red color be banned.
