We just lost our beloved donkey "Dummy" last week. He was over 30 and we had him for the last 18 years. Tough losing our pals.

my wife is out fo town but my little sister in law called me today and their family dog (14 yrs old) was sick and had to be put down today. I went over to help her with it all...very much sucks.

30 is pretty average for donkeys, not so much for horses. Horses are more delicate to colic and that sort of thing. Luckily we didn't have to nurse him through any type of long illness. He was fine in the morning, and was gone that afternoon.

We should all be so lucky.

Sorry to hear Jay. Pets are so tough to lose

My dog is 15.  She is pretty much blind now, and wants to be held all the time.  I will put her on my lap, and she will snore herself to sleep.  I know at her age, that the days are numbered.  But when she scratches on the door to come upstairs, or just stands there afraid to go forward since she can't see in the dark, I will be there to pick her up and take her where she needs to be.  

 

As a dog owner, I feel your pain.

Sorry to hear about that. I never owned a dog but my cat of 16 years recently passed away and it's really hard.
