1st in all baseball in WAR (5.0 - that's tracking for 10.8 over the season)

1st in the AL for XBH (42)

1st in the AL for AB/HR (10.38)

1st in the AL for ISO (.373)

1st in all baseball in BRLS/PA% 14.5 (Acuna is 2nd with 12.5%)

2nd in the AL for Home Runs (24)

2nd for Total Bases 

2nd for OPS (.996)

2nd for slugging (.643)

6th for Triples

9th for Runs Scored

10th for Stolen Bases (10) 

Whilst also being (AL Starters: minimum ten starts):

5th in the AL for Average (.188)

5th in the AL for SO/9 (12.44)

6th in the Al for ERA 2.58

17th for Total Strikeouts - 82.

Oh, and he puts down a pretty fine bunt too.

Unfortunately you can probably include 2021 Trout in there. Him being hurt and out this long is not positive

It blows my mind how he is so good at both pitching and hitting…it’s amazing enough that he does both, but both so well? It’s literally mind-boggling.

If he was a 4.00-4.50 ERA, .750-.800 OPS guy it would be amazing enough and worth talking about still. But he’s markedly better than that…at both aspects!

UPDATE:

The War Machine Rolls On:

Shohei now leads MLB with 6.1 bWAR (1.1 WAR ahead of DeGrom and Gausman)

And also leads MLB in fWAR with 5.8 (0.4 WAR ahead of DeGrom)

By both measures he is on track for 10+ WAR

He pitched 6 scoreless innings last night lowering his ERA to 3.21 with 1.16 WHIP and a 95.5MPH average fastball velocity for the season, while also leading all of MLB in Statcast's Barrels% and Line Drive Exit velocity; plus Extra Base Hits, Slugging%, and Home Runs with 34.

Shohei is on track to hit 60 Home Runs and Steal 20 bases alongside pitching 125 innings of 95mph 3 ERA ball.
