I'm telling you these trade calculators aren't completely accurate. There are way too many variables that aren't factored in their code to calculate the values.

Yeah, the Luzardo/Marte trade was way off, but surprisingly, they are pretty damn close on a majority of trades.

The only factor that plays into this is that Adams isn't MLB ready so value-wise may be off.

Adell and canning would do it

We could have had Bass in SPT after he had been DFA'ed.... Might get him for a Low level A guy straight up! "YO MAN JOHNSON"....

We could spin an Adell, Canning and a Thaiss and an inf for a Pablo and another arm now!

Joe Adell is my 2021 Tom Brunansky! Would love to keep him! I just don't see him continuing to  develop here!

Yet they have one more World Series than the Angels despite being around 30 years less.

Which has nothing yo do with what I said and ignores the reality that those WS were won under different ownership, and were essentially both bought and then sold.

I don't want the Angels to do what the Marlins did then or what they are doing now.

Why are some people so down on Canning? I've seen him mentioned as a trade candidate several times, usually to secure another pitcher. He is young, cost controlled for several more years, has a varied pitch arsenal, and has had moderate success as a starter over his first 200 innings in the majors. Sure he needs to work on sequencing and command/control just as most 25 year old pitchers with only 41 starts need to do.

To me he looks like just the sort of player the Angels should be trying to trade for, not trade away: what am I missing here?

He got Marte to shore up his outfield - Piscotty and Brown are out of the mix now.

And the Marlins are paying Marte's salary!! He continues to get more value for less than anyone in baseball.

As a fan of the Angels, why would I love him?

He gave up 5 years for two months.

Because he hasn't improved in three seasons now, and even gotten worse. I'm not saying they should dump him or trade him away for nothing, but I do think it is valid to think his outlook has gone down a bit.

Plus, the Angels are all of a sudden relatively flush with young starters. Of course they want to hold onto them, and even more would be better, but I could see them packaging Canning with someone for a better starter.

So you think 5 years of Luzardo is equal to 5 years of Adell? I don't. Luzardo?

I think it is a good trade for both teams.

The A's are going for it. This year. Marte will take all those useless PA's away from Piscotty and Brown. And with the A's payroll constraints he found a way to not add payroll. He actually reduced it because he'll get rid of an Ofer now.

The Marlins were going to lose Marte anyway so maybe they get someone who can help down the road a little. Luzardo is not very good.
