I have to assume they originally opted to have Rojas on the roster because they saw him as a guy who could get ABs in a sparing fashion and produce, whereas maybe they wanted guys like Thaiss and Ward to play daily at the alternate site / AAA and get a bunch of reps to continue to improve.  Rojas' spot, as originally designated, was probably looked at as a spot that would get some ABs here and there, but not too much playing time.

With Rendon out, that plan has changed, so maybe they'll recall one of Ward or Thaiss when they get back to Anaheim since they'll be playing regularly.  Not sure if they can recall someone on the road who isn't on the taxi squad, given the COVID rules / taxi squad they have in place.

Probably true, but I was saying the same thing regarding Walsh after watching the first 100+ hapless PA of his career in 2019/first half of 2020. He was beyond brutal with all the weak choppers and strikeouts he was racking up
