But who expected the A’s to be bad?  Maybe they appear bad because they’ve had a brutal schedule.  I remember looking at our schedule and thought the A’s made it harder not easier.

Im curious based on what?
They lost so much they really didnt replace are we just assuming they will find the usual magic?

They lost so much?  They lost Semien and Hendricks and replaced them with Andrus and Rosenthal.

Yep, they returned their entire rotation minus Minor who was a deadline deal.  Its been the rotation that's been killing them ... Apparently people were concerned about Montas, and Manaea, during ST....

Clutch play defined the first week. Each game was a nailbiter, with multiple situations to win or lose.

For the most part they collectively found ways to win. Even guys who have started slowly have come up big in key moments. Both hitting and pitching. Trout really is the only one who has been consistently excellent.

It's a long season, and the law of averages will see the team lose their share of close games. But if they just keep battling as a team they can win more than they lose.

'clutch by committee' seems appropriate for the first week. Now go out and win some laughers and not keep fans nervous all the way through.

nice write-up, @Inside Pitch.

I love that we're off to a good start. They've been fun to watch and shown a good deal of fight.

How many years we've been at this point of the season, coming in with lots of optimism, only to be kicked in the nuts again and again? This is refreshing, and I really like what they're doing.
