First voluntary AL dropping of the DH since 1976. Wacky stuff tonight.

Why are people considering this an experiment?  

We know what it is.  

If it works tonight then it makes it more likely to work in the future?  

The only issue is if we go to extras in term of pinch hitters but Ohtani has to last at least 3 and maybe 4 to get a second at bat.  His first two or three fastballs will tell us how this will go anyway.
