Zeba Savala of the White Sox entered today with three hits in his career in 26 plate appearances.   Two doubles.

He hit his first home run today.  Then, his second (a grand slam).  Then, his third.  There was another hit in there.   Baseball is silly sometimes.   And/or great.  A night he and everyone he knows will never forget.

Hopefully, he didn't/doesn't piss off old man LaRussa.

Very cool! I checked out his BR page. He's an Aztec from SDSU. What a great game he has to remember. Maybe it becomes a catalyst for him sticking with the team.

The Padres have placed shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. and right-hander Chris Paddack on the 10-day injured list. Season-ending shoulder surgery “would be on the table” for Tatis if he doesn’t show improvement during his 10-day IL stint, Tinger told The Athletic’s Dennis Lin and other reporters.  However, Tatis is intent on playing again this year.

Joey Votto's having a nice resurgence this year. He came one game shy of the consecutive HR record, with 7 games, and is hitting .276/.371/.556 with 21 HR and a 143 wRC+, his best since 2017. He looked like he was going the way of Pujols and Cabrera, but has had a surprising turnaround.

wRC+ from 2017-21: 163, 130, 101, 114, 143
