So vaccines work or don’t work?

Unaware that they are infected, vaccinated people are inadvertently infecting others, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention director Dr. Rochelle P. Walensky said at a Tuesday press briefing. Because of the virulence of the delta variant, the unvaccinated can no longer count on protection from people who have gotten the shots.

People with “breakthrough infections — rare as they are — have the potential to transmit at the same capacity as an unvaccinated person,” she said.

Masks are especially important in high-risk regions, and vaccinated people who are visiting children, the immunocompromised or the unvaccinated should wear them, she said.

Although daily case rates are rising in some highly vaccinated Bay Area counties, the overall case rate remains low here, so vaccinated people are less likely to be confronted by someone with the virus. That means they’re also less likely to become infected and transmit it. Vaccines are 79% to 95% protective against the delta variant, according to an assortment of international studies.

Sounds like his penis stopped working and he went on TRT ... but didn't do it smartly? What an idiot.

Can MLB players legally be on TRT if medically diagnosed by a medical professional? Legit question.

MLB testing is not strict as NFL or UFC and it only tests that your testosterone levels do not exceed certain threshold instead of testing for exogeneous testosterone which can easily be tested.  So yes they can be on TRT as long as they do not exceed a certain limit.

Not if people don’t get vaccines.  The more it gets passed around the more variants develop and the less likely those variants are stopped by the vaccine.  Thanks non vaxers.

You're right.  Sadly, there are still millions of people who are so ill-informed or ignorantly defiant, they refuse to be vaccinated and end up hurting all of us in the process.  The new deaths are 99% in unvaccinated people, and the Delta variant is the primary cause of the latest cases in most parts of the country.   As you say, the longer this goes on with people being unvaccinated, the more opportunity there is for the virus to mutate and gradually become more resistant to existing vaccines. Meantime, I keep reading about people who are severely ill, in an ICU and being treated with intensive care for covid, and they say how sorry they are about being so foolish to deny the reality of this virus.   What the hell were they thinking and what unreliable source were they using to convince themselves not to be vaccinated.  I hear about overworked healthcare workers who are frustrated, even angry, at having to deal with patients who end up in the hospital after refusing to be vaccinated.  And we keep seeing stories daily about athletes and teams that are being taken out of normal competition because of exposure or infection, including many Olympic athletes who now can't compete and are unable to fulfill their dreams as well as letting down their country.  It's a matter of selfish and irresponsible decisions by people who don't seem to care about their civic duty to protect those around them, their communities and their country.  Framing it as a matter of "liberty" and resisting govt intrusion is a sign of reckless, selfish and harmful attitudes that are prolonging the pandemic and preventing what all of us want--to return to normalcy and have a healthy community.

Blake Snell today:

4 IP  7 H  7 ER  4 BB  1 SO

He now has a 5.44 ERA and 1.61 WHIP on the season

Couldn't happen to a more eloquent person.

Oh, wait.  Reverse that. Turn it upside down.

I'm rooting for the Padres, but that guy ... oof
