I Love the Angels More than Baseball Itself

I mean if the franchise ceased to exist.

I knew a man (the great-uncle of a former girlfriend) who grew up in Brooklyn in the 40s and 50s and when the Dodgers moved to LA, he mostly stopped following baseball. In the last couple of decades of his life (he died in 2012), he would go to Mets games every once in a while, but only when they played the Yankees so he could boo the latter. He said he never considered becoming a fan of a new team. To him, the (Brooklyn) Dodgers were much more important than baseball itself.

I love the Angels but if they disappeared or moved to the east coast, I would find a new team.

(I think.)

Oh okay I understand that. For me personally it wouldn’t matter to me because I didn’t become a fan of them for geographical reasons since I live in Sacramento.

Why did you become an Angels fan? (I’m asking because I have had several friends in Sacramento and Folsom, and every single one who liked baseball is an A’s fan.)

The 2002 World Series. All my friends we Giants fans and I wanted to be the rebel so I went with the Angels and just fell in love with everything about them. From the uniforms to the stadium to the players.

And it was also my first little league team.

Troy Glaus was my idol growing up. I modeled my whole game after him (not a good idea btw)
