I really wanted for him to rediscover his hitting from when he was with KC.

But outside of the 1st game today, he's been mostly non-existant so far in 2013, has made 6 errors already, and has so far a mediocre for him .311 OBP.

Too bad Cowart is likely 1.5 years away.

Hes not a below average fielder.

And he is adequate. He's also struggling at the moment.

Callaspo has a good arm, but his range is only decent at best. Think Figgins, except Callaspo's offense is nowhere nears where Figgins' was in the 2000s, and obviously the speed is totally different.

He is what he is....While he is not the main problem, and he is going through a rough patch throwing the baseball. He can catch the ball but he cant throw it. He is a .250 switch hitter. He is what he is, always has been, always will be.

The only way he is acceptable @ 3rd, is if other players are carrying their weight.

If you have a light hitting outfield, and light hitting catchers, and light hitting DH's ..a light hitting 3B  sticks out really badly.

The only way a Callapso makes sense, is if the guys you pay to hit, hit.

All the 3B this team could have signed...and they went for this guy. In and out of the org, and then back in.

This has Scioscia written on it.

He thought he had another Figgy, in an undersized, light hitting 3B that fit his mold.

Scioscia is about as good with 3B as he is with catchers.

He has yet to bring a decent one into the fold.

3rd is a position that right now in mlb overall is pretty weak. sure there's exceptions like david wright but callaspo is average to above average when compared to the rest of the leauge at 3rd base. he is a placeholder until cowart is ready.

Callaspo is 14th in the AL.  He might make the top 10 if you take out some irregular starters or players who don't have at least 30 games.

Callaspo is definitely in a slump.  If it continues I think they should bring Lucho back up.
