Jon Jay...

At various times, he has been nicknamed "The Federalist", "The Founding Father", and "The Chief Justice" in honor of the U.S. Founding Father John Jay and his contributions to The Federalist Papers.Shortly into the 2016 season, NBC 7 San Diego lead sports reporter Derek Togerson popularized "The Federalist", which quickly became popular with Padres fans. Razzball.com originally started calling him The Federalist back in 2011.[29] Jay choose "305-J" as his nickname for the Players Weekend during the 2017 season with the Cubs

Lifetime 283 avg. I think a trade is coming

Ive been thinking that for a while now, but honestly don't see how this moves that needle.
Were not trading anyone we just signed, and having them doesnt really affect the kids as most of these guys are older now so... i dont know.
Unless they find a way to move Upton, which would shock the hades out of me, i dont see this affecting it much.
Seems like just a depth move.

Exactly. Not all will remain with the organization post-Spring Training.  They're just collecting bodies that might be useful in some extreme circumstances.

Upton barely makes the Dodgers bench. I also doubt they want a bad defensive LF'er.

Upton was vintage Upton a majority of last season.  He was just a steaming pile of shit the 1st 18 games.  After that (24 games) he was pretty great, .981 OPS.
