I'd say the bullpen is starting to shape up nicely.  Fangraphs lists our current bullpen as:

Iglesias, Mayers, Pena, Buttrey, Claudio, Guerra, Rivera, Barria.

Lists Siegers, Reyes, Bard, Quijada, Keller, and Reed as in AAA.

I suspect Barria will open up in the rotation, and likely Siegers will open up with the big league club.

Still would like to see one more legit bullpen option, a la Rosenthal, but I think the bullpen is looking pretty decent regardless.

Jake Faria also signed with us too. He has to be in the mix for a bullpen spot too I'd imagine.

Maddon has not managed Slegers before but he was a Tampa manager. Slegers was college team mate of Schwarber who was managed by Maddon.

Also, Maddon once got a Big Mac from a drive-through McDonald's in Poughkeepsie, NY, and Slegers once got food poisoning from a Burger King in Monkey's Eyebrow, KY, so they're connected by their love of fast food, too.

Anyone know how long teams have to name players in these trades. Fowler and Slegers both are PTBNL. Is there some kind of timeline teams have to complete these trades?

They needed a spot on their 40 man roster after signing Chris Archer. They will pick up a prospect from Angels.

Except Minasian came from the Braves where they have been very active in the International market.

It's certainly looking better. Will this guy be a free agent at the end of the season too? I read that only Trout, Rendon, Upton, and now Ohtani, are signed past 2021. That is madness. Minasian and his team will have a ton of work in the offseason.

February 29th is the deadline.

I'm not sure who were on their 40 man roster. They had to open up a spot maybe DFA someone. So they traded Slegers and will pick up a prospect. Tampa seems to be doing ok.

TB has an abundance of riches at both the MLB and MILB levels.  Slegers is an intriguing arm, but for a team like the Rays, they face a roster crunch and just needed to move on.  Likely they'll get something useful from us, such as international bonus money, that they'll parlay into some super prospect later.

For us, Slegers immediately serves as an upgrade over what we had.  I don't think he is going to be a stud reliever, but he should be a very competent middle reliever at the minimum, and for us, that is an upgrade.
