Could be an option for TOR for the angels ?

Bumgarner had a rough 2020 but it can be explained away in the Covid season I guess. 

He has a contract for $79 M over the next four seasons.

Still, I think this would be a nice move if he were available.

What would it take to get him? Probably more than Perry would give up/

You could get him cheap if they are going to dump payroll. If Arizona took back half or more of his money.

That’s my point. MadBum has negative value.  He’s no longer good and he’s also expensive

And I can’t imagine you have to give up much value for Price.

I can’t think of many players with less trade value than Bumgarner. Maybe Miguel Cabrera. Stanton. Chris Sale. Bumgarner is clearly top 10.

Yup, I’d think someone along the lines of a Rengifo or Ward if they’re looking for some cheap MLB-ready utility after losing Joc, Kike, possibly Turner.

Would obviously entertain expanding too. Makes a lot of sense.

But, the only way i would trade for him is that if we can get some value back.

Bum + 25 mil. (13.5 mil per year is what we're on the hook)

Perdome: is a young SS, that could take over next year at ss.

For a pitching Prospect go after Jarvis, who will move quickly through the system. 

Why this Helps the Dbacks.

1. They get rid of about 54 mil dollars to free cap space.

2. Perdome is blocked as SS

3. Jarvis has yet to throw a pitch in the system and is an unknown, but still has good/safe ceiling

I think they would need to trade  two top prospects for that contract. 

Why it helps us.

1. Perdome can take over at SS for us. He still is in  Development, but is projected to be a top of order hitter, with a plus hit tool .

2. Jarvis, is a 2020 pick of the Dbacks, and one that may move up the system. Has middle of the rotation upside. 

3. On the downside, we take upon 13.5 mil for the next 4 years. But if both Perdome and Jatvis reach there ceiling, than it'll be worth it!

Enough with the mid-30s has-beens. Not unless something like 75% of his remaining contract was paid, and even then I'd probably rather see Barria/Sandoval/etc.

Have you looked up the projections on Fangraphs?  If the best of those (4.87 ERA, 1.3 War, ZIPS) comes true, he will be our fifth starter.  The other 4 projections have him from 5.0 to 5.4 ERA.  I just dont see it happening because Minasian needs more assured production for a starter.  He still has a lot of cheaper options available to pick up a 5 ERA pitcher and Bumgarner is signed through 2024.

The Dodgers have several prospects that are blocked by the talent on their ML roster that would probably land in our top 20, maybe our top 15.

Your are right plus he is coming into camp in best shape of his life. He recently had a race with Bengie Molina and sap coming out of a maple tree. Race to first is still in progress.

It gets a bit wacky with some of the long, mega-contracts like Cole and Harper - I don't think any team would consider them negative value. But I guess their huge contracts work negatively in the algorithm due to being paid deep into their decline years.

Trout's down a bit, at 104.0 - but still with sizeable value. I think that speaks to his greatness, that despite having a super long contract, he still has tons of surplus trade value.
