From this group in Mesa, AZ at the once then minor league spring facility the director of player development gave us his office to interview Warner Madrigal, Baltazar Lopez, Sean Rodriguez & Mark Trumbo.

@Deek & @ScottT were with me back in spring of 2006.

Good times!

The Angels have Mike Trout and he's worth more than anyone in the last twenty years.

I mean, we're blessed to have the best player in baseball on the team we root for...but let's face it, we tune in to root the entire team on for a W.

Give me a balanced roster of talent on the field, on the hill and at the plate over one guy that's the best player in baseball with a few other contributors.

The best farm system I've ever seen were probably the 2019/2020 Padres.  Legitimately, 25 of the top 30 are major leaguers. Of those 25, 15 figure to be average or better major leaguers. Off the 15 that will be at least average, 8 will be absolute studs.

TBD on the Padres farm system. I'd take our 2005 right now over their 2019/2020 top 30 prospects.

Let's see if they develop into productive big leaguers.

What's most impressive about this group is that 20 of the first 21 prospects all made it to the big leagues. That's pretty remarkable.

Baltazar Lopez broke what would have been an impressive 21/21 prospects. Cassevah & Willits had a solid, but short career and Napoli was pretty damn good for the 29th of 30 prospects.

That 2008 Reds one, though, wow.  So many impact players.

And yeah, that #29 Justin Turner is the Justin Turner you think it is.

Hmm, ya'll convinced me though.  That 2005 Angels top 30 is indeed better, even with the Wood and MacPherson busts.  And the unfortunate Adenhart.

It does include a lot of guys who had pretty good major league careers. That crop will forever be slightly disappointing, though, in that it didn't produce any bonafide stars.
