  1. 1. Which would you prefer?

    • Bauer for 7/$210-245M (or so) + scraps and clean peanuts = +$35-40M AAV
    • Tanaka for 3/$50-60M + sign one good reliever + maybe a solid OF (e.g. Pillar/Goodwin) = +$25-30M AAV
    • Odorizzi or Paxton for 2-3 years, $25-45M + sign a couple good relievers and maybe a solid OF (e.g. Pillar) = +25-30M AAV
    • Trade Marsh for Gray + sign a couple good relievers and maybe platoon PF (e.g. Pillar) = $20-25M AAV

I don't think he'll get over $35M (that $35-40M figure was for the entire option, including ~$5M for scraps), but would be very surprised if he gets less than $30M, and not at all surprised if he gets as much as $35M.

Consider Strasburg - he got 7/$245M, or $35M per year, and there's an argument that Bauer is better - or at least as good.

Healthier for sure

I'll check mark, Go with what we have.

It doesn't waste money on Bauer's ego where he is only going to be good for 3 years.

It doesn't waste money on a second tier pitcher that really doesn't impact a rotation that already has 7 options.

It doesn't waste our best prospects on a three year return for a #2/3 pitcher.

Signing Bauer for seven years would be a huge mistake. He has had one excellent season plus 11 starts in 2020 against the weak Central Divisions. There is no easy fix for the Angels’ pitching staff, especially when it comes to starters. Let’s hope that Detmers and Rodriguez develop into solid starters. After that  hope that better instructors can develop pitching on a yearly basis. This is the only way to sustain a perennial winner.

I would like to see the club sign another potential closer and one starter.

With enough spare change to destroy every copy in existence of Iron Eagle II

Or, buy each copy, and send them out like stimulus checks. I think America could use some Lou Gossett these days. Be it IE2, or the classic film (not movie) Enemy Mine. Maybe diggstown.

Would you rather have Bauer or odirizzi, rosenthal anc trade one of adell or marsh for a sonny gray package?

I’d lean towards the latter If he’s pushing 30m per season

I'd also prefer the latter but I'm not sure that either is a realistic option.

Even though there are currently 6 starters, the only ones that can be counted on to make over 20 starts are Bundy and Quintana.

Heaney and Barria have done it just once.

Canning and Ohtani (MLB only) have never done it.

That’s why Paxton is tempting.

Paxton, Rosenthal, and Pillar should cost no more than $20 million in 2021.

I want to hear him say “may-o-naise “ or “I don’t see any horns “ at least once a week.

Diggstown. My most rewatchable movie (after Spy Game). I had the poster on my living room wall well into my adult life. I thought I might meet a woman who loves it as much as I do and as soon as she saw the poster she would fall in love with me forever. (It did not happen.)

It's either Skin Game or give me my $600.

Congress currently working out the math on which would be a dumber move, so they can go with that one.

Then when the people are pissed, some up and comer politician proposes sending everyone a laser disc of Congo the following month.

"Ugly. Gorilla. Ugly. Go away!"

Imagine if Columbus gave up when he reached the Caribbean, and no women saw the poster of diggstown on the bulkhead of his cabin. We'd all be speaking Portuguese right now.

Dont give up too soon!
