2014-2017 Quintana was very good. Since then he's been downtrending and recently injury problems.

For me, if healthy, is a solid 3-4 type innings eater, yet IMO that's not what we need unless it is in addition to acquiring a top starter.

I said the exact same sentiment when we signed Teheran. I stated if we paired him with Ryu I liked it......but a top of the rotation starter never came.

Sure, and I support the stance that if Quintana is our only addition, it is disappointing.  However, the offseason is not over.  If we acquire someone like Gray to go along with Quintana, then we have added a SP1/SP2 along with a solid SP3, which is fantastic IMO.

If Quintana was plan B, were screwed.
Which is to say i dont think it changed anything, hes just another supplemental piece.
So far this off season is giving me the faint whiff of... peanuts.

Quintana isn't plan B.  He very well could be part of plan B.  He could be part of plan A.  We don't know.  There is zero reason to think this is all they will be doing, which calling Quintana plan B is implying that.

Hey good news is we have about 6 total #3-#4 guys..... woo.....

Same as when we had Teheran, Harvey and Cahill.....

This is neither funny or accurate, well done.

Let me ask you this.  Are you more comfortable with Heaney, Bundy, Canning, Barria or with Teheran, Harvey and Cahill?

Yep.  The Angels lacked health in the rotation even more than they lack talent in the rotation.

So is Quintana the healthy innings eater?  Pre-2020 he was, but he made one start last year pitching 10 innings total due to injury.  Not pointing at you...it seems several people are mentioning we needed (past tense mostly used) health & inning eater.  To 100% say Quintana is that for 2021 is somewhat in question and possibly wishful thinking.  We keep getting guys "hoping" for health, rebound, etc.  It's getting old quite honestly.

He had thumb surgery.  That is different in my eyes than an elbow or shoulder or oblique type of injury that can reoccur.

The last few off season bed to differ... but, im hoping thats changed.

The last few off seasons have as much to do with this off season as 2004 when we signed Vlad, Guillen, Bartolo and Escobar.  Or in the 80's when we signed guys like Zahn, Reggie, Candelaria, Sutton.

I agree, but, until i see the end result, which i hope is very different, the point stands.

He cut his thumb washing dishes.

I love this signing, obviously, especially at this price. I've been pushing for him for some time since I really haven't expected the Angels to actually be in on Bauer. I know a lot of you are disappointed but this is about as good of a signing as Minasian could make given the budgetary limitations he's under and without giving up significant prospects. We'll probably see one more high upside starter brought it, based on the cost. Maybe Gray if the prospect ask isn't too high, or someone like Richards if the money is right.
