The Last Of Us (PS3)

Recommended Posts

Been looking forward to this game since the mysterious teasers came out like two years ago. The game comes out next Friday and the reviews just hit today and they've been awesome.

Has an average score on 96 on Metacritic so far with over 25 perfect scores.

Anyone else plan to pick it up? This and Man of Steel on the same day is a pretty good day.

17+ hour game?

You guys have taken dork to a whole new level.

I doubt its 17 hours, though I haven't read more reviews. Uncharted games, are usually estimated at 10 hours or so but can be beat about 6-8.

I'm actually fine with shorter games and some times prefer them, but that said, there are people that complain when a game isn't 20+ hours minimum. Hell, GTA, Skyrim, Fallout, etc... can take 40+ hours to beat.

We're not sitting down playing 17 hours straight. I'll likely just cut an hour a day out of watching the Angels disappoint me and beat this game over a couple weeks instead. It's a win-win (though maybe not for the Angels)

I see you forgot about your Dungeons and Dragons days.

I was too busy playing sports and getting shot down by hot chicks to play D & D. We knew about a few guys that would stay up ridiculous hours over several days to play, but I never had any desire to play. It was mostly the computer science crowd that played.

Picking this up as well...

As for the hours, it seems most games range between 8-20 hours depending on side quests and DLC

The last Mass Effect game , if you did all the conversations and side quests, was 30+ hours

Elder Scrolls: Skyrim is on the farthest end of this spectrum...it's like stepping into Vegas casino.  One sidequest plus diversions can take you up to two hours by itself.  Add in the DLC and you are getting near 100 hours.

Don't forget the Fallout games too

Those can come to a solid 50-60 hours each but I felt they were easier to get through the Elder Scrolls games (Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim).  I especially liked playing New Vegas....Obisian is a solid developer.

"Dragon Age: Inquisition" was just anounced by BioWare for Fall 2014 release which I'm sure will be another 50+ hour games in the near future

  • 3 weeks later...

Anyone else actually pick this up?

This game so far (I'm about 70% in) is outstanding. If you like stuff like The Road and Children of Men but with zombie-like creatures, the atmosphere and tone is very reminiscent to something like that.

Depending on how it finishes, this could be favorite game of this last console generation.

I've played 140+ hours on skyrim alone, and I still haven't finished the main quest

Me too. I think it's been fantastic. It's cut scenes are very well done and the writing is pretty sophisticated. For a game. I'm loving it.
