Highly doubt they'll work out an extension right away.  There's no real reason for them to.  See how the season's going before committing big money long-term to a closer.  If this season is another shitshow, no reason to re-sign him.

Agreed.  If you look at what AA does in Atlanta - a lot of one year deals, which essentially keeps players trying to play their best to ensure they keep getting good contracts.

I would not be surprised to see Minasian employ a similar strategy, acquiring players on one year deals or who are about to enter free agency

I'm actually surprise by this, I'm assuming since this is a salary dumb, the  PTBNL isn't a big time prospect. but surpsied, that we took salary dumb, instead of signing some like Hand to a multiyear deal.

We have to wait to see how much cash is coming our way, but for now, we have acquired 1 year of a very good closer to 8mil (he is due 9.5mil, but we shedded Ramirez’s projected 1.5mil).
