I would prefer we bring in a defensive oriented short stop to bolster the defense. Having good defense up the middle is probably the easiest way for the team to upgrade the entire pitching staff.

He was probably a little better at 3b than 2b....I wonder if he might have been a passable 1bman....Got a few starts there this year but pretty late in his career to switch positions....

Well, I can appreciate people liking Tommy LaStella, but the Angels need better defense than he is capable of.  As a super cheap bat off then bench he'd be fine, but I'm guessing he's going to be looking to cash in as best he can on his offense the last two years.  When push comes to shove a team that's struggled at run prevention (like the Angels), really can't roll with a defensive liability anywhere up the middle.

No idea who or what you're responding to.   But imo they shouldn't be wasting "big money" on any IFers, and none at all on defensive zeroes like LaStella.

The SS talk in the other thread made me revisit this.....  So far he's been good for -0.8 bWAR on his new contract with 15 mil still due for next season.  

Hosmer, the guy that "knew how to win" and the Angels could have signed "if not for Puljols" has managed 2.7 fWAR in his first four seasons and its only cost SD 85 mil..  Only four more to go now.

How bad is that????  AP was good for 13.3 bWAR for 75 mil in his first four years.
