he was your friends dad that had permission to hit you when you did something stupid.

He also hated communism, and felt lucky to make enough money to eat beef more than once a week.

And owned dogs that pissed off his neighbors.

That picture is also fake, because he grew up in black and white.

I thought there was no way that Walsh would overtake Thaiss and Ward.  It seems now that he has done so, and easily.

Also, the adjustment quieting the hands definitely worked.  Good fastballs used to get past him, or he was late.  Not anymore.

Keep up the great work, Mr. Walsh.

I think all three, Walsh, Ward and Thaiss will become decent major league hitters.

Walsh - He's the first to blossom and that has a lot to do with his mindset. Being a college senior, 39th round draft pick with a $3,000 signing bonus took away any excuse to simply "develop" from Walsh. There were a lot of minds he needed to change, players he needed to leapfrog on the depth chart, but he did it. He bashed his way through the minors and even took on pitching duties just to make himself an asset. It took a swing change, and a little help from guys like Maddon, Trout and Pujols, but he's found something that works. And as Maddon said, there's no fluke here. Walsh is big and strong, coachable, even tempered but driven. I think he's going to be a legitimate starting 1B and garbage time reliever. He might even be a lefty specialist in the right situation.

Ward - I think he will fashion himself into a Zobrist type of weapon for Maddon. He can play the corner outfield, corner infielder and catch. He's strong enough to be a power bat off the bench and fast and athletic enough to be a pinch runner.

Thaiss - I still think he's going to be the best hitter out of the three, believe it or not. I just think it took him a hair too long to develop and Walsh took the 1B job and Ward took the utility job from him. So his success will likely be found elsewhere. But he's got a smooth stroke, with more power to it than most fans realize, and when all is said and done, I think he'll be a defensively viable 1B, 3B, 2B and emergency catcher.
