Too bad MLB contracts are so player friendly this won't really hurt them all that much. Unless this is the final straw that makes steroid clauses be put in that would cost the players essentially their contracts.

Doubtful. I think Hamilton even mentioned that the Angels didn't have him sign a morality clause.

Nope, there was talk about this when A-Rod was first brought up, because of the absurd amount of money the Yankees still owe him.

 

It would take an awful lot for a team to successfully void a contract, and this wouldn't be enough

So, with this large of a number, and with some very prominent names involved.  If the Union steps in and causes a fuss, think Congress will also step in?

I would have no problem with their being positive test clauses in contracts. Something along the lines of the team having to pay for the remainder of that years contract but is able to void the contract at the end of the season. Or if the suspension last into the next season the team can void it after that season.
