Rays Suspend Josh Sale Indefinitely

Just as his 50-game drug suspension drew to an end, Rays outfield prospect Josh Sale got tagged with another suspension, this one by the Rays—and indefinite in nature—for what Tampa Bay deemed “conduct detrimental to the organization.” This according to Rays correspondent Marc Topkin on Twitter.

The 21-year-old Sale made national headlines yesterday for an ill-advised and ill-received comment posted to his Facebook page. The post read (with typos intact): “Threw 50 cents at a stripper tonight. First time. Got kicked out and she got so pissed thought she was gonna cry. Your a stripper. Be thankful. Hoe.”

The 17th pick in the 2010 draft, Sale hit .264/.391/.464 with 10 homers in 239 at-bats for low Class A Bowling Green last season prior to his suspension—he tested positive for an amphetamine—in the season’s closing days. He had 43 games left on his suspension this season.

Good, it is refreshing to have a sports organization that expects their players to be professional and mature. It would be nice if all pro-sports organizations imposed strict disciplinary measures for unprofessional, poor, and boorish behavior. This kid is a scumbag as far as I am concerned.

Who cares?!!!

As I said a long time ago when Miguel Cabrera was available. I could care less how these idiot's live their lives. I'm not paying to watch them live their lives, I'm paying to watch them play baseball. We have a justice system that can take care of these idiot's. Wonder how many would have cheered for MCab if he won the Triple Crown as an Angel?

If the kid can play, pick him up and see how good a player (not how good a human being) he can be.

uh well, if you're the one paying his paycheck, and he's finding extra ways to get himself in trouble (or as you put it, needing the justice system to take care of him being an idiot), then I would suspect that you'd have a different take on this. As a team owner, I see a guy who is already on probation for breaking the rules and he continues to act out. He's not learning his lesson. The writing is on the wall. He's not the kind of player I want my coaches and managers spending time on developing if I am the owner of the franchise. How they are as a human being has a direct impact on the team not only because of the issues they have to mitigate when he's dicking around, but the impact it has on the rest of the clubhouse.

i'm glad you said it.

life is leaky, meaning it doesn't exist in compartments.
