ANAHEIM — The Angels beat the Oakland A’s 6-0 on Tuesday night, putting all elements of their game together for their most convincing victory since … the last time Dylan Bundy pitched.

Bundy continues to be the most pleasant surprise amid a mostly disappointing start for the Angels.

After he pitched seven innings on Tuesday night, Bundy has a 1.57 four starts into his tenure with the Angels. The Angels have won three of his four starts, including a 6-1 victory in Seattle in his last start. They’ve won just four times in the 14 games that anyone else has started.

While Bundy was easily slicing through an A’s lineup that brought a nine-game winning streak to Anaheim, the Angels’ hitters blew the game open with one big inning.

In the fourth inning, Anthony Rendon led off with his second homer in as many games. Rendon brought a .103 average into the homestand, but he is 4 for 7 in the last two games.

Shohei Ohtani and Albert Pujols then each singled before Jason Castro blasted a three-run homer to straightaway center field.

An out later, Brian Goodwin homered to put the Angels up 5-0.

Bundy then delivered exactly the type of shutdown inning that every pitcher strives for. He needed just nine pitches to retire the A’s in order.

For the night, Bundy threw 103 pitches, on his way to 10 strikeouts. It was his second straight double-digit strikeout game, after whiffing 10 (with no walks) in a complete game last Thursday in Seattle.

The A’s barely made Bundy sweat. They had multiple baserunners in only one inning.

Suddenly the ace of the Angels staff, Bundy has performed far better than anyone could have expected when he brought a career 4.67 ERA from the Baltimore Orioles.

It seems that more liberal use of his off-speed pitches has been the biggest key to his turnaround. Getting out of the hitter-friendly ballparks of the American League East certainly hasn’t hurt either.

The Angels got him one last insurance run in the sixth when David Fletcher dropped a fly ball just over the fence down the left field line.

It gave the Angels back-to-back four-homer games for the first time in the history of Angel Stadium.
