I'll try to be positive and assume he needs more time to acclimate back to pitching, but I guess this team only has two good SPs at this point: Heaney and Bundy.

Yeah, I think at this point this season is a mulligan for him. Hasn't pitched a competitive game in nearly 2 years, then ST gets cut short due to COVID which leads to another long layoff. He just looks all out of sorts with his mechanics and everything. Not sure things will get sorted out with him this season since it's so short. I'll start to worry about his future in the rotation and as a pitcher if he looks a lot like this next season

Yep. Ohtani threw three 89 mph fastballs to Springer as part of his 5th walk of the inning. No excuses, he melted down.

I definitely chalk that up to throwing more than 40 pitches in an inning along with him maybe trying to aim the ball which is what i think screwed him against the A's too. He's just gotta let it fly like he did in the 1st inning.

That's not an excuse. Umpires shouldn't miss that, it was all over the strike zone. And yes while Shohei was wild, he was at least around the plate for the most part.

Not in the second inning he wasn't.... and unfortunately he won't get those close calls until he proves he can have some control.

Obviously he wasn't throwing strikes and while I'll say he was 'around the plate' I know that distinction is subjective. He wasn't hitting the backstop and the catcher wasn't leaping left and right to block pitches. Ohtani was close enough to the zone that the umpire shouldn't be missing obvious strikes. That wasn't a case of the catcher setting up outside then stretching their arm back to catch a ball inside (poor framing).

I'm tired of seeing Upton just missing pitches and fouling them straight back just to strikeout the next pitch

I'm tired of seeing Old Man Pujols not be able to catch up to pitches he used to demolish only to ground out to third on the next pitch.
