ANAHEIM — Mike Trout has left the Angels for the birth of his first child.

The Angels did not immediately announce on Thursday afternoon whether the baby had been born or the birth was imminent.

The baby boy was due on Monday, Trout said last week.

The MLB paternity list allows a player to be replaced on the roster for one to three games. Trout would need to rejoin the Angels by Sunday’s game, or the Angels would have to play one player short.

Trout does not need to quarantine after his leave. He simply needs to pass the same coronavirus protocols as every other player, which includes testing every other day, along with regular temperature checks.
