Well it is mostly because there is not much you can do immediately to get a healthy immune system.  Also, there are plenty of cases with healthy athletic people dying or getting seriously sick.  Finally, we do not know the full extent.  Asymptomatic is a bit of a misnomer because there have been some long term effects found on people that never showed symptoms, specifically with the cardiovascular system.

I'm not saying we shouldn't practice good hygiene and wear masks but we do have to think about this virus long term as it may be with us for a while

One of the smartest companies in the world, with access to data I can't even think of, is saying to its employees, "Let's meet back in a year".

This thing ain't going away soon

Can't a lot of them work from home, being an IT company?

Surface transmission is pretty much non-existent so disinfecting is just a placebo.

I did sit in a room for 8 hours a day for 2 days with someone who ended up testing positive for Covid. We all had masks though and i'm at day 7 since initial contact with no symptoms. I actually had to get tested today because I found out this morning I was exposed. I personally don't feel I was in close enough contact with them for me to have gotten infected, and like you said, surface transmission hasn't been documented (that I am aware of)
