Gameday Thread: 6-3-13 vs. Astros. Harris at 1B, no Hamilton

Recommended Posts

`

Brendan Harris had played in 7 major league seasons before this one, for the Cubs, Expos/Nationals, Reds, Rays, and Twins.

He made 2 starts at 1st base over that time.

This is start #3 for him there this season.

what the hell

Once Calhoun is deemed MLB ready, can he play 1B sometimes?

Well considering Brendan Harris has practically never played there and is apparently good enough to do it, while Calhoun actually has experience there, I would assume so.

Harris should never be playing first base. Angels need to call up another outfielder to play when AP is DHing and Hamilton is out.

Ya, I don't get why they're still rolling with a 13 man pitching staff and 3 man bench. 8 man bullpens are kind of the worst.

And it's not a particularly versatile 3 man bench either. A backup catcher, a utility infielder and a 2B/3B backup type.

Oh, I was so distracted by Brendan Harris playing 1st base that I missed the part where Erick Aybar is still batting leadoff for no good reason.

Good stuff.

You don't think a guy with a .278 OBP and more caught stealings than steals is a good option at leadoff?
