They are probably piping that in to cut down on how many times you can hear players say fuck in an empty stadium.

I don't mind the crowd noise the MLS is using right now on their broadcasts, if MLB does something similar I hope it would feel as natural as that.

Tonight there was a technical glitch at one point and the fake noise stopped for about 5-10 seconds and it was weird without it. 
 

Up in the press box I could hear guys on the field saying stuff. 
 

They’re also getting better at synching the noise to the action.

Isn’t that kinda the point? To keep from being able to hear players/coaches talking (especially the other team)?
