OC Register: MLB set for 60-game season, with camps starting July 1

Recommended Posts

Major League Baseball players agreed on Tuesday to report for training camps on July 1, clearing the way for a 60-game schedule, according to multiple reports.

The two sides were reportedly still working on finalizing the details of the health and safety measures, including rule changes, before making an official announcement.

MLB players had rejected all of the owners’ proposals for the format of the season and their salary, leaving the league to unilaterally implement a schedule. The length of that schedule was not announced on Monday because players needed to approve the timeline for opening camps.

The season is expected to start on July 24, the 60 games coming over 66 days and ending Sept. 27.

More to come on this story.
