Changes in Atlanta

They just released Michael Turner, Dunta Robinson, and John Abraham. MAJOR overhaul of big name players not named Ryan, White, or Jones. Will the Falcons make the playoffs next season? And if they do, will they seriously compete?

 

I think so, with the exception of Robinson, the Falcon survived the 2012 season with minimal input from Turner and an oft injured John Abraham. I don't see why the Falcons can't either replace these players via free agency, the draft, or within the organization. The real challenge will be replacing Tony Gonzalez.

 

Oh well, the Niners will win the Super Bowl next year anyways.

Atlanta should have pulled a Dallas which amazingly got about 5 of their highest paid guys to restructure yesterday. Pretty amazing actually being that they and Washington have cap penalties from the lockout.

They lost 3 big names more than they lost 3 big players.  Even when Turner was racking up yards in previous years he always crapped out at the end of the year and after not getting a lot of carries early in his career in SD he averaged 294 touches the last 5 years.  Abraham is 34 and at a point where he would be more valuable as mentor to younger guys so when it comes down to money you can let him go.  As mentioned Robinson probably hurts the most but they still have Samuel on one side so their secondary shouldn't fall to pieces.

Last I heard they were still talking with Tony Gonzalez about returning, and he hadn't ruled it out.

Falcons were frauds last year and the proved it in the playoffs by almost losing to the Seahawks and then losing to the Niners.  Bold prediction, they will not make the playoffs.

Michael Turner got old and slow fast. 

 

Falcons want Steven Jackson who is old but I believe is better than Turner. and Dwight Freeny. 

 

Jackson and Quizz Rodgers is defiantly a good thunder and lighting group.
