Random Obscure Question of the Day

If we can pull together to get Kurt Fuller, we may be able to get this one and hopefully I pose the question properly.

When I was a kid in history class I had a teacher that used a specific word or term for people that grow up in an area, but never leave their hometown or childhood city/area. I think it even came with a parameter of living within 30 miles of where you grew up. I'm going down the rabbit hole on Google but coming up blank and have some calls to smart people trying to help and thought I would try here.

It was very specific to this topic only and not a broader term like settlers or hometown, it was very specific to someone that never moves from their area of birth. I liken it to xenophobia in that the term is very specific to only one thing, so when you hear it you know the exact topic and usage, if that makes sense?

Just an odd question that is bothering bunch of us and I know we have teachers and some smart people here that might know the term.

@Lou what term did the crazy poppy growing chick tell Ruth?  I thought it was locals.  But didn't she use a term to describe that they were from around there but Marty was an outsider?  Or was it local and outsider?
