I remember Making A Murderer was a slow build. I must've finished that a week before I heard anyone talk about it. It was almost like they didn't know what they had, and the audience for the true crime stuff wasn't as big yet. I think they have so much data now and such a huge audience that they can really push things in ways that we haven't seen since the days of network tv dominance.
