Hi guys, this thread is to let us know if any of you need help. Provide updates on how you're all doing mentally, physically or to share any comforting or not so comforting stories in dealing with this virus outbreak.

Mostly, I wanted to create a thread so that can check on each other and provide help if needed.

Thank you Chuck for the thought.  I have several co-workers that have tested positive and are under quarantine.  Myself, I am not but as the testing becomes more available that may change.  I’m not particularly worried about myself, I am worried about some of my co-workers and their immediate and extended families.

I hope everybody here is doing well also.  Stay safe and isolate.  And wash your hands.

Currently directed to work from home and my wife and I appear to be fine at this moment, thank God. However, my work situation could change as I am a contractor supporting the Federal Government and contractor's are usually the first to be cut off if money becomes tight so we will see. Fortunately, I have made it a point to save some money so I can, if needed survive for a handful of months but would, of course, prefer not to.

Really concerned for the world in general, the United States in particular. If we don't mitigate, control, and attack this problem as soon as possible, it will last for months, unnecessarily I might add.

Truly the best of luck to all of you, I wish you and your families safety and health at this critical time. If you don't have your health you don't really have anything.

The Tank household is doing fine. Wife started working from home last week, and I will start on line teaching a week from Monday. We’re going to use google classroom, something I’ve never even looked at, let alone use. This week will be spent learning how to use it and then develop lesson plans around this new platform. Going to be some challenges in all of this, both for me and for the kids. Curious how I’m going to collect assignments and do tests. Hopeful the kids will be honest through all of this.

Doing fine. Everyone I know is healthy. Bored but doing good. Kind of hasn’t hit me yet. It has been weird though at the grocery store. Seeing everyone wearing gloves and masks.

Going in every day, expected to be there because my agency is considered vital for public safety. No practical way for me to work from home. We are doing everything that we can to monitor people going in. Only employees go on the yard. All visitors, including volunteers and vendors, are barred from entry for the time being. Our director has mandated twice-weekly meetings to keep people updated, address rumors and concerns, etc. So far we have not had an increase in absenteeism, but that may be down the road.

I posted this on FB and this seems like a good place to post it if anyone needs help or knows someone that needs help:

I've been thinking about this for a minute and want to act. If anyone on my friends list needs help or knows someone that needs help during this time (especially the elderly) I'd love to get a message or text message with an item list and be able to shop and drop the items off at their doorstep. I'm mainly thinking of the elderly here in OC that can't get out and shop or are scared to, for good reason. I'd like to lend a hand and help out a few homes with shopping and delivering on the behalf of those that can't during this time. Please, direct them my way or give me some peeps to help out.

I am grateful to have a job that won't lay me off. Others aren't as fortunate.

I've been working from home, it's not that bad.  I feel for some of the casino workers - Boyd Group and TI basically gave the full timers a week pay and told to file for unemployment.  Part timers were laid off. 

My wife went a little nuts on food,  but now I think it might be a good thing.

Solo in Europe for over a month now. Currently in German countryside, and honestly feel safer here than America's dumb ass. So I'm planning to stay put here as long as I can.

I'm retired but my son lives with me. I only leave home to pick up my meds, I take anti- rejection meds for a liver transplant I had 11 years ago. My son does warehouse work bu starting this week they're closing the doors for at least 2 weeks. They will continue to pay him for now. He brought some kind of bug home with and we bot have a bad cough but no other symptoms.

 l fill fine other than this cough, I'm having my next doctor appointment over the phone. My son is completely over it, what ever it was.

I hope everyone is good and stays that way. I am so missing baseball.

Received a letter stating that I am an essential gov employee. Received an N99 mask. After taking last week off it will feel good to get back out there, or at least I'm trying to convince myself that it will.

Both my wife and I had been sent home to work as of last Thursday.  Luckily, both of our jobs allow this option and I have been able to mimic my set up from my office with a couple of monitors, a docking station and a Skype phone from work.  The kids are off school indefinitely.  With the last update saying "out until May 4th", they may as well cancel the rest of the in-person school year and just have everything done online.

It's a weird existence and it's only been 4 days.

It was a WTF! moment for me when i realized my 10 year old is about to start online schooling.

I am fortunate in that I have a good job, good job security, the ability to do my job from home without any real disruption, and a nice home office. But this virus is going to destroy my bonus for next year. I am guessing it will wipe it out completely, mostly because I anticipate clients will substantially delay payment to us. I am not complaining because I am better off than most others, but it sucks nonetheless.

For Google Classroom, kids can take pictures of assignments and upload them to your classroom, or submit essays via google docs.  Also, there are sites where you can link quizzes/tests to Google classroom.  For example, you can create a survey on surveymonkey and link it to google classroom.  Surveymonkey will grade it automatically and you'll have the results.  Of course the survey/quiz/test must me multiple choice. 

Really, this shutdown could change teaching (for better or worse) for ever.

About a year ago, I left full-time work in entertainment market research to work as a consultant. Now, a large portion of my work has evaporated due to theaters closing and studios delaying the release of their movies.  (In addition to home-based work, I moderate focus groups and screenings for movies--and that work obviously isn't happening right now.)

In addition to the work slowdown, I'm also dealing with kidney stones right now.  Fun times! But at least I'm still alive.
