Because they thought they could lure him? Their confidence isn't unjustified. Most of the time if it's a guy they're after in free agency, they have the resources to outbid them. Glad he chose the Angels though. Great pick up by Eppler.

Yep. Because they - not just the Yankees but the citizens of NYC - can't understand why anyone wouldn't want to be in that shithole.
