OC Register: Angels to skip Julio Teheran’s first spring start because of hamstring tightness

TEMPE, Ariz. — Julio Teheran will not make his scheduled start against the Dodgers on Wednesday because the Angels are taking extra precautions with a case of left hamstring tightness, General Manager Billy Eppler said on Tuesday night.

Teheran underwent an MRI exam that came back negative, but the Angels are nonetheless skipping his turn because “we feel it’s best to skip him at this point of the year.”

Griffin Canning will instead start for the Angels on Wednesday.

Teheran, 29, has been one of the most durable pitchers in the majors, starting at least 30 games in each of the past seven years. The Angels signed him to a one-year, $9-million deal in December.

That's not the point. The issue is that for these bargain basement deals something invariably appears.

That doesn't make any sense. If a guy isn't injury prone, he isn't injury prone. It doesn't matter how much money he makes.
