Eppler: "I have nothing active now" in regards to improving the starting pitching

What is he supposed to say?  I have multiple deals in the works?  No.

He isn’t going to say that now and then have the media in his face 24/7 on what is happening, and he also doesn’t want the absence of a deal to look like another failure to execute.

I believe he is going to say this no matter if he has four deals working or zero.

Anyone counting on post TJ surgery Ohtani is setting them self up for disappointment. Hopefully he pitches well buy we shouldn't be expecting it

Right, just like any Astros fan expecting great things from McCullers as their #3 starter should not be expecting much.

All I'm saying is that it may take him sometime to get to the level he was at before.

Until about mid-May according to the team. I like that they’re holding him back early so he can be available to pitch for a playoff push. Plus, if he’s DH-ing more, it may mean fewer AB’s for Pujols

Is May when he starts pitching out of the rotation or when he begins his delayed spring training?

I'm not. Angels are the ones who have slated him as our number 1 SP.

I advocated adding 2 frontline SP thus moving Ohtani to 3 and taking the pressure/expectations off.

Seems like that would have been the prudent thing to do

I took Fletch’s tweet to mean Ohtani would be pitching in the rotation by mid-May but DH-ing from the opener. I hope he doesn’t have to pitch in the PCL for a bit and we lose his bat...

This was my question about what his pitching status would be come May. If he needs a mini spring training then end of June or beginning of July would be when he is finally in the rotation.
