It'll be interesting to see what gives you a strike.  The thing is so vague, that it seems it's more of a scare tactic than anything.

Here's
the crazy part — under this program — nothing. Nothing happens at all.
Jill Lesser, executive director of the CCI, said in an interview earlier
this month that, after you receive six alerts, you won't receive anymore:

hope that by the time people get to alerts number five or six, they
will stop. Once they've been mitigated, they've received several alerts,
we're just not gonna send them any more alerts because they're not the
kind of customer that we're going to reach with this program.

This doesn't make sense to me.

 

Why would a company like Time Warner slow my internet down, or cancel it because i'm downloading torrents? What do they care? All they want is your money and if they shut down your service they're basically pushing their own customers out the door.

 

If they're trying to portray some kind of moral image, that's pretty funny.

Besides if all they are doing is tracking IP addresses that seems pretty easy to get around. Couldn't you just use a proxy? A good amount of people that know how to torrent can probably do it I would think. Not to mention the high volume of addresses they'd have to track.

They can send you a warning or whatever, but all they should really do is track your ip and give it to the media owners in case they want to sue. That's the real way you get in trouble with this kind of thing.
