Apparently we are #4 in baseball now in terms of projected team fWAR per Fangraphs, trailing only the Astros and Yankees in the AL.  Obviously only just a projection, but nevertheless, pretty impressive offseason for Eppler.

Goodwin actually hit LHP better than RHP last year. Additionally, Hermosillo does well against LHP.

So who knows who the minor leaguers are but overall this is the move I've been waiting for Eppler to make since the Rendon signing. In previous seasons we would've just headed in to spring training without this added depth, now we have covered for some of our potential pitfalls.

If Stripling can be healthy this guy can be very close to prime Corey Kluber imo. They're very similar pitchers, not to mention Stripling is going to Klubers old coach now.

I'm just saying they've got some similarities.

• Both work with a low-mid 90s fastball and a devastating curve.
• Both are righties with excellent control and K/9 rates of 9-10.
• Both will have had the same pitching coach now.

 

Obviously Kluber has the innings and track record. I'm not saying he's going to put up identical numbers, but damn he could get in the vicinity if things go well.
