Mike Trout on playing CF

From what ive been reading and hearing all offseason and season long is that Dipoto did not want to trade Bourjos. By all accounts several organizations showed interest but.he wanted to roll with.this all world defense this season.

really, so who are the other teams that showed interest and had quality pitching to send in return?

how many times do we have to go through this? Trout doesn't bat better when he plays CF.

Trout while in LF last year - nearly double the AB's vs this year so far -

.326 .395 .645 1.040

This year his OPS while playing CF is 300 points higher than when playing left.

BA as LF, .247

BA as CF, .324

The only specific name I recall being mentioned in direct connection to Bourjos was Ricky Nolasco(and that was something about the Marlins would trade Ricky Nolasco for Bourjos or Trumbo if offered, which was courtesy of Captain Obvious).

And that would have been a pretty terrible trade to make.

Everything else your typical vague "x team could be interested" stuff, which certainly doesn't indicate that a team was willing to trade anything worthwhile for him.

But there is zero reason to believe that that's the case.

So the team should play the better center fielder in CF. And that would be Bourjos.

In 33 games playing center this season, Trout is hitting .331/.401/.654 with eight home runs and 25 RBI.

In 22 games in left field this season, he's hitting .247/.327/.412 with two home runs and 12 RBI.

Except as Lifetime has pointed out, Trout actually posted stronger numbers in a larger sample size in LF last season.

And then there's the fact that Trout made an adjustment in his stance at the plate with Pujols' help, and Trout himself has credited that with his offensive surge.

We're discussing this season not last season.

LOL yes I know. You're completely ignoring results from last year on a larger sample and using the smaller sample to justify the argument that the defensive position is effecting his offense. It doesn't hold water - which is the point I am making.

I disagree on your meaning of "much".

He started to rake after Bourjos went down. Simple as that.

My meaning of much is nearly double the games this year versus last. That's a big difference.

Post hoc reasoning is fun though.

correlation does not equate to causation

He didn't start most of those games in LF.

Several of those games he was moved to LF late in the game so Bourjos could play CF with a lead after the 7th inning.
