Astros punishments: suspensions, firings, team gets over, everyone is pissed.

Both the manager and GM keep their jobs and will be back next year. Oh well, one year paid vacation. 

And they lose 4 draft picks. Yeah, that sucks, but it doesn't exactly cripple their system. They can just spend extra money on international prospects.

Any team thinking about cheating is going to weigh the possibilities.

Win a World Series. Get all the glory and money that goes along with it. And if you get caught cheating, oh well, lost a couple picks and instead spend money on the international market. 

Why shouldn't every team cheat now?

I think the biggest thing is that the Astros title will always be tainted and no one will ever take it seriously ever again. It’s basically Bonds home run title. Same shit different stink.

 

The Astros have become a joke again and it’s amazing. No one will ever take that shitty franchise serious again. They’ll just be known as that team who BY FAR had the best team in 2017 and still had to cheat to win it all. How sad is that?

Yep, they should have truncated their ability to sign internationally as well.  This isn't much of a punishment.

I can’t understand how Carlos Beltran gets off scott free in this.  Yes I get he was a player when this happened, but he isn’t now and according to ESPN, he was a major player in this.  I think he should have some culpability in this also.

This is a slap on the wrist in my view, how can no players be penalized?  And 5M is not a deterrent. 
Yes, the loss of draft is large but that does nothing to punish those who took part in and benefited from the practice. 
The GM and manager are being scapegoated.
